Recipe with Tortelli
Wednesday, March 04, 2009 | By Julie45

Adelaides Italian Tomato Soupstew

15 oz. can Italian tomatoes
2 fresh tomatoes chopped
1 lb. Italian sausage, sautéd and cut into coins
15 oz. Italian tomato sauce
7 cups beef stock (or combination beef and chicken)
2 onions chopped
1 cup sliced carrots
1 tsp dried basil
1 Tbsp dried oregano

Simmer all the above ingredients for 30 minutes and then add:

2 cups sliced zucchini
1 cup fresh mushrooms
1 green pepper diced
&frac; cup chopped parsley
1 &frac; dill pickle chopped
2 cups frozen tortellini (if you use fresh, add at the end)

Continue simmering for another 30 minutes or so, adding more liquid if necessary.

This it the recipe as I was given. I made it the day ahead and it reheats well. I left out the mushrooms and green peppersmushrooms I forgot to buy and green peppers are not one of my favorites, but obviously, this is a soup that can be tinkered with to your personal tastes. I think the dill pickle though is a must!

(One of my co-workers sent me this recipe today. She had the stew the other night, and said it was great!)

Baking Bread
Wednesday, March 04, 2009 | By sunnyjAZ

Hi! I bake bread from scratch too! It's so easy & tastes better than store bought bread. About debt - awhile ago we bought a book by Dave Ramsey about paying off debt & using only cash. It was a great book & using only cash has made a huge difference. When we used credit cards, debit cards & checks we spent alot more. Every 2 weeks I take out enough cash for the next two weeks. I have dividers in my wallet that are labeled: groceries, gas, pets, entertainment,.. etc & the money is divided into those categories and that's all I have to spend. It works great. Good luck!

getting rid of flees
Tuesday, March 03, 2009 | By deeg0629

A cool way we found was to set a bowl of water under a small lamp on the floor. Put in a few drops of dish soap liquid in the water. The light must be directly over the bowl which attracks the flees. Put this as close to where the dog or cat sleeps. The flees will jump off the animal into the bowl of soapy water which kills them. The soap is the clue to destroying the flees, not just plain water. This method has been around for years and most vets have heard of it before. It really works. Good luck.

Yes, we do have winter! It's our chilly & rainy season. But being in a desert, it rains in torrents & then stops. See me blushing...I am an inspiration? You have made my DAY.

love to camp
Monday, March 02, 2009 | By snowbird49908

we spend the majority of our summer camping. We dont tent it however because I have 3 kids two of them being under 5 so we have the camper and coolers and what not when we go but its still fun. Getting everything packed is a bugger so we went to goodwill and bought a bunch of bedding and kitchen supplies to just leave right in the camper instead of re packing it all the time

I agree

I agree on the plastic bag thing. I do most of my shopping at walmart and when I buy groceries for my family there are tons of plastic bags. I use some of them for garbage bags in the bathroom and in the kids rooms and the left overs get used to make latch hook rugs to go in the camp or what not. The rugs are easy to hose off and are easy to make and nice to use especially in the spring when its muddy and nasty and everyone tracks in the mud.

Light Wheat Bread.
Monday, March 02, 2009 | By Newby

Hello,I Make my own Bread From scratch. It takes 3 -4 hours start to finish. As you know the majority of the time is rising..I also use unbleached flour ..I use 5 pounds of unbleaches flour three fourths white and a quarter wheat..Make a weill in a bowl with the flour...Add tea spoon of salt one third cup of sugar.2 eggs lightly beaten,3-4 cups of very warm (not too hot) tap water.Add 1 oz of yeast cake..Then mix part of the flour in the well until it looks like pancake batter...then cover for 30 minutes. When you return it will be really foamy mix the rest in ..Let rise for an hour..Punch down and roll out..make a tight roll tuck the ends under the loaf. And bake...Now I use this same thing to make cinnamon raisin bread when you roll out the dough spread butter cinnimon and raisins...works awsome.makes 3 - 4 loafs.
