Plastic Bags are Evil.
Thursday, February 26, 2009
I bag my own groceries. I put all the cold stuff together. Canned goods together. Bananas and fruit together, toothpaste and toilet paper together and so on. It's easier to put the groceries away when you get home. You use less bags. You can also bring your own bags. Some stores give credit for using returned grocery bags.
It's so frustrating getting home and dealing with all those nasty plastic bags that don't compost. I also use the plastic bags for trash bags. If you can't bag your own groceries put your items up on the counter in the order you would like them bagged and tell the clerk what you want done and why. They never seem to mind.

plastic bags

I wonder why grocery bags get all the flack when no one seems concerned about plastic bags used for garbage? We use our plastic bags a LOT and then recycle the surplus. (In Africa they call them "flying toilets" I understand - becaz, well they use them for toilets on the fly...) So many uses.
I agree

I agree on the plastic bag thing. I do most of my shopping at walmart and when I buy groceries for my family there are tons of plastic bags. I use some of them for garbage bags in the bathroom and in the kids rooms and the left overs get used to make latch hook rugs to go in the camp or what not. The rugs are easy to hose off and are easy to make and nice to use especially in the spring when its muddy and nasty and everyone tracks in the mud.
