thrifts?????
Friday, November 07, 2008 | By KimmyLynn

i moved to michigan and i have been an avid thrifter for years!! usually consists of 3 or more trips a week there but here in mich it is ridiculous the prices they charge they are more like the ones you went to and i miss my cheap ohio thrifts they were so cheap there all kids clothes 2 bucks regardless and small household stuff was really cheap as well as bedding and other things here it is like you are in a mall with these fancy set ups etc!!! i am thinking we are paying for all these fancy displays they make everytime ya want something it is "display only" but i noticed prices are getting higher!!!!
i have decorated my craftsman style home with all my flea market, thrift, curbed treasures, and the ever popular garage sales
good wills are always cheaper we have none around here in this area but the sal army is popular but always more expensive

p.s. do you freecycle?? or do craigslist?? cant beat free and half my treasures and shabby decor come from there!!

haven't done this much either-- but have made a resolution to start.
We have wood heat, so leave the electric heat turned way down-- if we get cold enough-will get up and go get wood! Keeps me moving-- even in the cold weather.
Gardening does it in the Spring Summer and Fall.
The animals too- can't just sit indoors-- they need fed and water hauled to them.
Stay warm-- Char

organization
Friday, November 07, 2008 | By c kni

That's what it's all about. I know-- have been dis-organized for the first 30 years of my life. Now the last 37 of them has been so much easier!
I too was single mother for years-- of four kids two boys and two girls.
Organizing everything, house, clothing, kids stuff everything we owned saved my life-- or at least my sanity!
Start small- organize one drawer--then the next. pick a part of the house-- maybe kitchen-- and throw away or sell everything--no you won't need it!
In the car, or back porch-or where ever-- toss everything out-- then put back each item that you truly need. Corral everything-- boxes-crates- baskets ,put like things or or things used together in something.
And be merciless about tossing things. Please believe me-- it works!!! When your stuff and your life are in order-- so is your mind. When your mind is in order, life is soooo much easier!
Good luck in your move and your life-- best wishes -- Char

I use to do the online freebie's but now have a toilet tissue shipping box (translation: HUGH box) full of sample size lotions, shampoo's, conditioners, tampon's, kotex, cereal's, pen's, pencil's, soaps...and I could go on and on. I am getting ready to donate them to a local homeless shelter. As soon as I find them, LOL. I was so gung-ho for freebies...use to get them in the mail darn near every day. T-shirts, magazines...of course with the mags you just got one free issue and then had to remember to write cancel on the bill and mail it back to them. half the time I would forget to do that and end up having to pay for a subscription I didn't want. I have found offers for free music however it's not really music I am interested in, books too...same story, they're not really something I would be interested in reading. I've pretty much stopped doing the freebies mainly because I got tired of all the junk mail that accompanies the freebies.

I'm glad you enjoy it so much.

I for one am sure glad the voting is over-- no more commercials! One of my friends said "OK now your guy won-- how come things aren't any better"!! Sheesh!
I have a blog here but have never done much with it--do like some of the craft and recipe tips though. This is the first time I've replied to anyone.

I am a bit homebound myself, so I know how it feels - There is Sticker Shock when one goes to the store, isn't there? It's amazing how much we got for $50 at the 99 Cent Store!! (but when we go to the drug store we just get one bag for the same amount of $!) So we have to be as clever as possible to get thru. Try those freebie sites, you won't ever have to buy shampoo again & not much lotion, either!

slydial - how it's used
Monday, October 27, 2008 | By pamphyila

You are right - slydial is a way to go right to someone's voicemail bypassing any chance of getting a human whether they are there or NOT. Sometimes you would just rather talk to a machine & now you won't have to call in the middle of the night for that.

I weigh more now than I ever did! I have gained over 100 lbs. since marrying my husband. I have tried every diet out there...the only one that has helped me at all was atkins. I gave up the grains basically; no bread, pasta, rice etc...I eat vegetables, lean meat etc...my back was bothering me too much to exercise also, but once the belly starts to go away, my back problem did the same! Good luck to you!

The double and triple coupon days are over due to three things one) a guy by the name of Kenneth S. in New Jersey holds the record for using over $800 dollars worth of coupons in one shopping trip and only paying $2.77 dollars in tax, because of him the East coast companies stopped using double and triple coupon days. Two) The stores always run out of the item that is worth double or triple with the company having no more product available to the store during the sale, so they had to give out come back tickets to get the product with the coupon and double or triple it on non days for those double and triple days, so the company got tired of losing money that way. Three) when those sales are going on I have seen a lot of people horde it, so no one else can get the sale, and they got mad at the store for putting a limit on purchasing with coupons for the sale. This is the reasons they quit doing double and triple coupons nationwide. Hope I cleared it up for you. Good luck shopping.
