Exciting Toothpaste Savings
Friday, November 24, 2006

I did a little shoping on Thanksgiving day.  I had a toothpaste bonaza.   I had two coupons for $1.00 off Colgate, which were on sale for $.99 and were double couponed.  I bought enough to last a long while, the same with shampoo and condiitioner.  I bought enough to last a few months.  I have the hardest time with money in January (seems to be every year) so I'm stocking up when everything is more than 1/2 off.

Today I went and got a new tv for Christmas.  I got a new 20 inch flat screen for $49.00.   I only have a little tv.   This  will make my little nest have a better viewing area!

I also got gloves those magic gloves, bogo sale, I'm always losing them so I have four pairs now all the same color for easier  mix and matching and finding when I need a dry pair.

Snowflakes
Thursday, November 16, 2006

I'm planning on having a cookie exchange party and I am making ornaments to put on my cookie bags.  I have a bunch of brown paper bags which I am going to rubber stamp snowflakes on and then put the cookies in, fold it over and tie it with either ribbon or raffia.

I bought wooden snowflakes for $.25 each at Michaels and then I bought stickers for $.99 which are shiny pretty snowflakes.  I had paint and brushes left over.  I started the painting process last night.  I also got ribbon for $.33 per roll.  If the first four turn out ok, I'll go back and get more for the rest of my packages.

Homemade Egg Rolls
Thursday, November 16, 2006

I have enough things left over to try my hand at making homemade egg rolls tonight.  Of course I'm going to buy the wrappers, I'm not so cheap that I can't buy those first.

I have leftover rice, finely shredded cabbage, a bunch of different vegtables that I can saute first, and some left over roasted chicken thighs.

I used to be afraid of frying things, but once I really read about it and tried it, it isn't so scary, although I do have a fire extinguiser and baking soda nearby.  I also watched the Bob-o do it a bunch of times also.

I'm going to eat some tonight with a big salad and then freeze the rest for my cookie exchange party, at which I am going to have an appetizer buffet.

I think this will be a cheap appetizer as it uses my Aldi rice at $.33/lb and buy one get one free Meijer boneless chicken thighs at $6.98 per bag and my $.39 cabbage and other sale produce items.   I think most restaurants around here charge about $2.00 for one egg roll, I'll be egg-rolling in my savings!

Dirtier Houses and Eating Over
Thursday, November 16, 2006

I'm not a germ phobe, I kind of gross out having to eat at a peoples house who has way too many animals in a small space. Flying, barking, purring, slithering animals and I'm pretty sure the house isn't cleaned until a day before the party either - lol.  I don't like going to really dirty houses where there is only a path from room to room either.  (Trust me, my house gets bad!)

I'm the type that has to clean the house to get ready for the party by disenfecting the kitchen first and everything else, then I prepare the food for a party.  Then I reclean again before everyone comes over.  But don't get me wrong, I'm a clutter collector and I could easily become a slob in no time.  I'm lucky right now, I have a space for everything, and everything in its space.

Does anyone else gross out about having to eat a dirtier house than your own?

Leaderfest
Wednesday, November 15, 2006

My best friend Kelly and I went to a Girl Scout Leaderfest this last weekend.  Mostly we sat in our cozy cabin and read magazines and napped.  We also walked through the woods.  It was nice as it was catered and we didn't have to prepare for or clean up afterwards for meals.

I love camping in the fall.  It is so beautiful with the different colors on the trees and the crisp fall air.

It was a great deal for $45!

Grandma's Dinner
Thursday, November 09, 2006

I tried the recipe off the box of Meijer brand lasgne noodles and the lasgne turned out to be too runny.  Oh well, it still tasted good, it just looked awful.  It kind of looked more like soup.

Today, two days later, it seems to have solidified a bit more.  Hopefully it will taste good tonight for a leftover dinner.

Grandma liked my place.  My parents never came to visit me before when I lived in the upper flat, but they like my new place and have come to visit a bunch already! (Ok, well twice for dinner-lol)

Grandma Dinner Tonight
Tuesday, November 07, 2006

Tonight I am having my Grandma and my Mom and Dad over for a lasagne dinner.

I bought all the ingredients on sale - the biggest expenditure was for the cottage cheese and even that I had coupon for.  I love making lasagne, but it is too much for one person to eat.  I'm looking forward to it tonight.  I made the no-boil kind.

I'm going to add some onions and chic peas to a bagged salad and make a garlic bread and I'm all set for tonight.  A quick pass with the vacuum cleaner and I'm ready for company.

I'm giving my Grandma a frozen lasagne in a baking pan for her birthday to heat up at her convenience.  Its a small one, enough for her to eat about four times!  Probably more, she doesn't eat too much.

It is her birthday this weekend, but I'll be missing the party as I have to go camping!  Yeah!

I love my new place
Friday, November 03, 2006

I feel so at home at my new apartment.  I think it looks really great.  I am making valances for over the blinds out of the flat sheet that came with my bed-in-the-bag.  I don't think it should be that hard, I'm sure my non-sewing self can make some valances, of course spending money on a curtain rod and installing it might throw me for a loop!

Last night I had company, my other apartment (an upper flat in an old house) was so small that two people in it were one to many.

I am planning on throwing a martini party and serving two kinds of martini's (probably apple and peppermint) and then having a mashed potato bar for snacking.  I'll have different kinds of topping for the mashed potatos and serve them in martini glasses.

That Bobo
Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Well last night I got a phone call from Bobo.  He told me that after he dumped me on August 1st that he went on e-harmony.com and dated five girls.  Yesterday he said he never had any fun or liked them as much as he did me.  Then he proceeded to tell me that the last time he saw me he was surprised at how big I was (hmmm, same size when he left).

He wants to get back together with me, but he wants me to come live in Florida.  I'm not ready for that.  Now I have a lot to think about I guess.

I'm happy here, I have a great job, friends, family and I kind of have a life, there I would only know him and have to start all over.

Plus I'm a total Michigan girl, I love it here, its so beautiful, great and I love being a Metro Detroiter!  I love camping and hunting and fishing and outdoor things, what can I do in Florida besides watch out for giant bugs, alligators, pediphiles, sharks, jellyfish and bums on the beach?

I'm just babbling, I know......
