Savings
Thursday, November 20, 2008 | By pamphyila

Aren't men funny? My husband can be the same way about my savings - I keep on trying to convince him that, as a female, I am a tremendous BARGAIN - because I am so thrifty about clothes and lotions and so on...I saw the yarn you mentioned at both the 99 Cent Store and the Dollar Tree. A GREAT buy! But then, do men know how much yarn costs? Probably not. I admire your industry in making so many things for the craft faire! I craft a bit, but only for myself and friends...I think the trick is to live WELL on what you have with savings. You COULD have spend full price for it all -but WHY? Oh, by the way, I have gotten great deals on nice greeting cards at charity thrift shops - check them out next time you are there - Great cards for $.25-.50 each. I have a whole box of them for every occasion - Just sent a Get Well Card off. It's nice to read about your thrifty journey -

Regular Thrifting
Thursday, November 20, 2008 | By pamphyila

Sometimes I get the guilts about my regular thrift shop stops - but then, I do almost ALL my clothes shopping there these days! So - getting denim pants for $3 and a nice linen/cotton sweater for $4 - makes it all worthwhile.

But the pricers at private charity thrift shops are volunteers, as as such, their pricing varies wildly sometimes - with the less valuable stuff pricey and the better stuff a good deal! A lot of Goodwills and Salvation Army's are lousy - but then I have found one of each that's really GOOD and worth the visit. It all depends on who is making the donations. After a while, you can scope it out & get an idea what sort of stuff usually comes in....

Thrift

Thank-You Pamphyila & kimmyLynn for stopping by.

I do have my 'fav' thrift stores that are not too high in price but if they do get something nice..the price can get a little steep. I have 2 or 3 that I go to on a routine basis because they have such a high turn over of product. I say "on a routine basis" but what I mean is that these are the ones I typically go to first because you can usually find SOMETHING. It may not be what you are looking for, but you can usually find something you know you will need in the future. Like today for instance. I was looking for tags to mark craft items for sale and I found them at a thrift store. saved boo-coo bucks buying them at the thrift store than if i had went to office max first.

And yes, I have used FC before. I've not been too lucky in finding what I am looking for but have been helped out a few times. Not really too interested in craigslist but have checked it out before. We don't have a .99 cent store here but we do have a Dollar tree. However their grocery section really leaves a lot to be desired. there is no refrigerated section to their stores.

Don't spend that amount on a boy espeically at your young age. Just get him a few gifts around the $10/$20 range!

I avoid Latte-ing!

I think that might have been my comment - lol.

I always have stuff in my drawer at work for lunch and breakfast, an $.88 package of english muffins and some cream cheese, mmm good. I also have soups and a grilled cheese sandwich maker under my desk! I eat pretty good once the guys at my office leave for their $14 BLT sandwiches!

Most of the time I bring in leftovers and eat those. My leftovers are usually made in the crock pot and from meat I bought off the clearance rack! I have a nearby familiy owned grocery store and sometimes I get amazing bargins on meat. I just pop it in freezer and use it as I need it. When I crockpot it is so easy to add some raw vegatables with the meat and have something delicious as soon as I get home. I live alone but I still eat good!

I also try to use my convenience cards at the gas stations! I use my Speedway points for pop that way I don't have to spend my money, and I needed gas anyways!
