Cold Cash Wednesday.
Thursday, February 01, 2007 | By elliecat

Don't panic about mis-spelling Wednesday.. it's easy enough to do when you haven't written a word for a long time, and sometimes even the simplest word looks odd when it's written, even when it's right.
Red,Red, Red.. I just purchased a pair of gorgeous crimson silk pants to wear to my birthday party later this month.. How much?
50 cents at my local Sal.Army thrift shop!
I'm happy. Elegance for peanuts!

TEEN GRADUATING
Wednesday, January 31, 2007 | By ldillback

Ok, here goes. I have a son that "hopefully" will be graduating from h.s. in May. Teenagers are so different than when I was in school. Mine seems to be going through some major defiance at school. I think WHEN he graduates, I am going to thow MYSELF a "now I can relax a bit" party!

Road Trip

Have you ever been to Frankenmuth? It is a nice little town to walk around, has cute little shops, a winery that you can have free tastings at, and it has a very good chicken dinner.

Have fun on your trip and be safe!

Hi Christine,
Welcome to ThriftyFun; I absolutely love this site! It is a lot of fun and very educational.

I am the same age as you, and I have problems with days that I am "not in a good mood". I have been diagnosed with depression, but I do wonder if it may be a hormone thing. I have always wondered about the SADD thing, during winter when there is less sun many people experience depression. Have you talked to your family doctor? It is good that you have pets, my two help me to smile during the day. And, the walks that you are giving the dogs are helping you too; exercise is one of the things my doctor said would help with the depression. Do you have any problems sleeping at night? I have insomnia problems too, so I get more depressed because I am always so tired all the time! I, like you, am a tea drinker; it is my afternoon treat to myself. A cup of tea, a quiet house, and perhaps a magazine (free from the library, of course!)

I look forward to your future blogs. Take care of yourself, Paula

Dresses
Tuesday, January 30, 2007 | By RuralAngel

Try Banana Republic online for the dresses. They are differant and go on sale a lot (special dresses). The dresses can be used for other events. Try Chadwicks of Boston (also online). They are even cheaper but the qaulity is questionable. There are always thrift shops too.

Wedding Cake
Monday, January 29, 2007 | By Rockcandy248

Buy Sheet Cakes from Costco for your wedding. If you want to have the topper you can buy a round white layer cake and put on top the sheet cake from Costco. It worked for my cousins wedding and it looked nice. No one knew that in the back they were just cutting up sheet cakes to serve. They saved a ton of money!

Grief
Sunday, January 28, 2007 | By ThriftyFun

Having had many losses in my life, husband, parents and a step child I find that everyone deals with it differently. I think your friend is probably still in shock about what happened. It may hit her hard but it may take a month or two. It is a huge loss no matter how good or bad their relationship.

What always helped me was to think about how they would feel about me being incapacitated by their death and how they would want me to carry on. The grieving process takes a long time, they say some cultures give the person 3 years.

I've found, it takes as long as it takes. Finding grief counseling groups help for some, journaling helps for others but my good friends and family were the best medicine for me.

The important thing is to try to get your life as back to normal as possible, to be gentle with yourself and to allow yourself to feel your feeling.
