THANKS! I AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR REAL COOLING TIPS that I never thought of. Please excuse that crude "non sweet" comment.

Great idea! We have just discovered incense matches. The bowl of sand would work great with them.

I would try "Spray Nine". It works on the lining of of our swimming pool. There is no harm to try it, in my opinion.

Oh my Goodness...where to begin!!
Tuesday, July 01, 2008 | By Poor But Proud

I am definatly a B and D combo. Someday I would love to have a website called "Lifestyles of the Poor But Proud"!!Starting out low income and rarely rising above it, I have made living on little an art form. For instance, right now, I live on 108.00 a week UI. I am on housing, and the rest of my bills take about 100.00 a week...including my portion of the rent. What must be paid for new...food, utilities and rent/insurance, I pay for new. For everthing else, I buy at thrift shops and yard sales. I used to be an apartment manger, and I got a lot of cool things that people have abandoned. The last big new thing I bought was my computer back in 02'!!! I go to the dollar tree monthly for things like envelopes, craft supplies, plastic ware, and food. I sell and buy on Craigslist, barter, swap, and yes, I sometimes find things in my apartment dumpster and I am not ashamed of it either! Someone just threw out an unopened Siatsu Back Massaging Pillow, and I took it inside and use it daily! It's worth about 80.00 and they didn't care! My mamma didn't raise a fool! I get yarn, fabric, clothes, craft items, books, movies, household things and just about everything that hasn't been bought for me at at least 75% off the new cost. If I find a shirt or pants that fit perfect, I take them home and make a pattern out of them to make more. I get wonderful photographs to print out or keep on my screen saver by going to www.allposters.com which is a free download or purchase website that gives you hundreds of photographs of scenery, pets, movie posters, celebrities and more. I make all my own gifts, recycle everything I can, and just shake my head when my friends talk about spending 50.00 on a pair of jeans! I gave up my car two years ago, and spend 12.50 a month on a bus pass. I live within walking distance to my post office, bank, three stores, and two bus lines. I use the library for books and shop at Canned Food Warehouse! My mom's motto was "Use it up and Ware it out"!! So, there you go. I love this site because it give me a chance to share my creative ways of saving money with others. Just yesterday, I took a formula scoop, filled it firmly with coffee (you can use sand but I like the smell of coffee better, esp' when it gets older and sweeter). I glued a cardboard disk to the bottom (the large scoop hole on the top), turned it over, and use the small hole in the top for a needle fob to keep my needles sharp (see photo)!!I hope you all are one of the "Letters" and have fun cheating the big stores and the greedy people who own them!!

You most likely qualify for Legal Aid
Tuesday, July 01, 2008 | By Poor But Proud

If you are still working, you need to call an attorney. The phone book if full of ones who will give you a free 30 minute consultation. Take all the info you can muster up with you. And yes, the previous poster is right, you need that handbook. Get quotes from others who have worked there, and find out who covered them, if anyone needed to, when they were hurt. If your company has a parent company, contact them. They may not know their subsidiary is doing this horrible thing to you. Don't start selling things till you do all this. You have rights, and if nothing else, you can make payments with any county hospital...who can't deny you assistance...until you can get this mess taken care of. If you get them to pay like they promised, and you feel they treated you fairly, then take the benefits you are entitled to and then leave. They are not a company you want to be with for much longer. Good luck my dear.

Have you thought of Ebay?
Buy stuff from thrift/ charity shops and sell on Ebay. It works for me!
Good sellers are collectables of any kind, retro stuff or go for clothes - outsize clothes sell well and makes for a handsome profit.

Good luck

Black Muck in Dishwasher.
Tuesday, July 01, 2008 | By Monique63

Have you tried soaking the bottom tray with full on sugary Coca-Cola?
Leave to soak a while then put on a wash. That should shift the black muck and make your dishwasher clean and smell shiny and new.
It gets rid of oil on driveways so it should get rid of that!

Good luck,
Monique :D

I love reading your posts because they are not just a list of life hacks to do...they are gently suggested in a conversational manner.
I am a major fan of repurposing found items...using them in a manner not originally intended

Storage
Saturday, June 28, 2008 | By craftymama

Actually, I have two tackle boxes that I store my beads and other supplies in. Maybe I can find something similar that has larger compartments... I did find, today, a travel bag that works great (so far) for my necklaces and it only cost me $1 at a flea mall. Thank you for your suggestion.
