Displays and Storage

Saturday, June 21, 2008

I make jewelry and I've been looking for more ways to display what I've made. I also need a new way of storing my jewelry. What I am using right now is really beyond it's limit. It's starting to loose it's handle, lol. It's also not very protective. I'm afraid my jewelry might get squished. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great...Especially if I can make it myself.

Try this...

I dont know what you are using at the moment to store your jewelry, but have you tried a bait and tackle box? I find those to be most effective for storing crafts/small pieces and they are inexpensive at the dept. stores and usually come equipped with addittional storage boxes inside that also have alot of dividers for even more storage. Hope this is a good idea for you.

Storage

Actually, I have two tackle boxes that I store my beads and other supplies in. Maybe I can find something similar that has larger compartments... I did find, today, a travel bag that works great (so far) for my necklaces and it only cost me $1 at a flea mall. Thank you for your suggestion.

Manzanita Branch

The librarian at the school I work at had this amazing display. She took two manzanita branches and painted them white. Then she put them in a plant pot and used smooth rocks (small enough for the palm of your hand but not pebbles) and used them to wedge the brabches into place. The end result should look like a mini tree in the winter . She then hung several "book" ornaments all over it. It was awesome! I adopted the idea myself and have my own jewelry tree that holds all of my necklaces, bracelets and earrings with those hooks. It looks very magical.
