money woes
Tuesday, September 30, 2008 | By Glenn'sMom

Well honey, join the club! With the economy the way it is now we're all struggling to get by. You're right, we all have too much "junk" and need to get rid of stuff before we buy more stuff. When I was living alone (before marriage) I set aside 1/4 of my necessary bill money each week so that I didn't have so much to do with one check. Insurance and long term stuff was broken down and set aside per week so that at the 3-4 month time when I had to pay it the money was there.
Try looking at the full part of your cup a little more. I have days when I have to really concentrate on those people who have soooo much less than I do so I won't feel sorry for myself. There are really tons of them out there! Good luck with your efforts!

Congratulations on your birthday but SPECIAL congratulations on your continuing marriage! I've also been married 23 years but I'm 57 so got a later start than you did. It's not always easy but sure is worth it to put up with these guys!

Japanese Steakhouse
Tuesday, September 30, 2008 | By Savings Assistant

I am sure you have some really close friends. I know someone who took a group to a Japanese steakhouse restaraunt. Everyone agreed it was a lot of fun. These are not usually restaurants that most people eat at all the time so it is a special treat to watch the cook. (Dinner & a show!) Everyone could dress nice to make the occasion a little more special.

Sometimes you can get coupons for these types of eating establishments. Start looking now. See if you can get a group discount.

Happy Early Birthday!

Thank You

I'm not usually the type of person to cry about these things, but our situation is getting so desperate and I've been praying so hard... Anyway, I checked out the website and tears came running down my cheeks. I'm going to give it a try and since the closest host site is 45 minutes away I'm going to check into starting up a host site where I live (I've already emailed a couple of people about it). Thank you so much for spreading the word! This is going to help my family so much and hopefully others too.

skittish beagle

I rescued a dog who had been badly abused so I know what you are going through. Training is one of the best ways to build the dogs confidence. Then she knows what is expected of her and when she is doing a good job. Always use positive reinforcement, lots of treats for doing the right thing. As for her fear of the children, the behaviorist I spoke to about fear said to become a treat dispenser when the dog sees what it is afraid of. That way, she will associate good things with the kids. Also, make sure that the kids know that they have to be calm and gentle with the dog - if the kids are too overactive, it's not a good time for the dog to be around. Be patient and she will come around.

Not for all month

While angelfood is fantastic, it is not "feed your family all month for $30 per person. It is enough food to feed a family of four for 1 week for $30 provided you have extras to go with it.

expensive but worth it: Redken Shades EQ

Redken shades EQ and a good colorist. It's my only indulgence. It takes me 3 months to save up and get my hair done.

Try Goodwill or The Salvation Army for items and the kitchen sink too! :P
