heart rate variability, health assessment - Biocomtech
Saturday, November 21, 2009 | By twerruymiklsky

A well-trained doctor is able to recognize minute changes in patient's strength. It was empirically shown that any kind of stress reaction causes muscular strength to drops no matter how the patient consciously tries to resist. Heart rate variability  while pushing the patient's arm the doctor evaluates the strength of patient's muscular resistance. Heart rate variability patient is asked to stretch an arm and keep it steady.

Here is how it works. A muscle testing technique is one of the most popular techniques among specialists practicing alternative medicine. How to measure reactions of the autonomic nervous system? Heart rate variability  measuring reaction of the autonomic nervous system.

Heart rate variability they may be used as auxiliary tools in allergy diagnostics and as instruments to help choosing adequate treatments and dosages. Heart rate variability it is possible to measure body's reaction to allergens using methods of express assessment of the autonomic nervous system function. Heart rate variability  advocates of this method believe that close contact between allergen and human body causes their bio-energetic interaction. Heart rate variability it could be a direct contact with allergens.

Heart rate variability the concept of this method is based on using nonspecific reactions of the autonomic nervous system in response to provocative actions, which may cause general stress response. One of such methods is the autonomic response testing. What are these methods? Heart rate variability  - It is believed that modern western medicine is not able to offer any effective means to treat certain types of health problems. Heart rate variability for the past decades new methods of alternative medicine have emerged for diagnostics and treatment of various diseases.

It's Flu Season
Tuesday, October 27, 2009 | By jess

My son Ethan has been home sick since Friday with a fever and bad cough.  It might be swine flu or might be just the regular flu. Either way, it is nasty stuff.  He had a temp of 102 - 103 for over 24 hours, and it didn't respond very well to meds.  Today is Tuesday and he still has a fever of 101!  A close friend of mine had to take her son to the ER last night for breathing issues, with similar symptoms.  The doctor's offices and hospitals are slammed with flu cases and the schools have lots of absences.

Here are some of the tips that I have used in the last few days to get my family through this latest bout of illness.  I hope they are helpful to someone and we all get through this year's flu season as easily as possible!

  • Keep Stocked Up - Buy lots of liquids, canned soup and other non-perishables for quick snacks and easy meals.  It is likely that the whole house will come down with it and you want to be able to keep everyone fed through your own recovery.  You also want to make sure you have medications like Tylenol for reducing fevers, cough syrup, and cough drops. You don't want to have to drag yourself or your sick kids to the store for essentials.
  • Keep Them Healthy - If you just have one sick child, try to keep them in their room, or one room of the house.  Use lots of disinfecting wipes and practice good health techniques like hand washing or sanitizer and coughing into your arm instead of your hands. Be sure not to send them back to school until their fever is gone at least 24 hours.  If you haven't already, get those flu shots ASAP. We still have months of flu season left and the shots cover several strains.
  • Keep Them Quiet - Your child will feel much better on medication, maybe too much better. They really need more rest and relaxation than they will take on their own.  Play quiet board games with them or let them watch TV from bed.  I recommend having them watch movies instead of broadcast TV, if possible. The constant commercials and short programs are much more distracting than a feature length film.  Books, of course, are also good for quiet time, if your child enjoys reading.
  • Keep Them Hydrated  And Comfortable - One of the most dangerous parts of being sick is the dehydration, especially if there is vomiting or diarrhea. Keep a water bottle with your child and refill it often. If their pee is dark yellow, they are not getting enough water.  Often it is difficult to swallow with a very sore throat and they often have little appetite.  Try giving them easy to swallow foods like soup, jello, applesauce, popsicles.  Check their fever regularly and keep track of times and temps, as well as the medication.  I find that most kids don't like cough drops, too strong.  I have gotten the Vitamin C drops instead, but a hard candy will work as well.  Likewise, honey is a good substitute cough syrup.  Don't bother with those multi symptom meds as they give too much of some and not enough of other.
  • Keep in Contact With Your Doctor - Most insurance plans and doctor's offices have advice nurses available 24 hours a day. Although there is lots of advice on the internet, your own doctor knows the specifics of your personal situation and will give you the very best advice.  Be sure to call immediately if the fever is high (over 103), your child is unresponsive or is having trouble breathing.  If you can't contact a doctor, there is lots of good advice at flu.gov, which is a website set up by the CDC.  If you are worried and it is the middle of the night, go directly to the ER!

Gallbladder removal - beware
Tuesday, April 21, 2009 | By Dorenat

If you had your gallbladder removed - it is a wakeup call to change your diet & should begin excercising.  Having your gallbladder removed stinks - I've had mine removed a year ago and have nothing but digestive/bowel problems that I never had before.  I have always been an excellent dieter, but I have mercury poisoning in my system due to a donkey's ass doctor that was telling me I had many cavities when I didn't and it takes years to rid it from the system.  Now I'm afraid to go out to places unless I know there is a bathroom close by because there is no rhyme or reason on what makes my bowels go bazerk!  One day I can hardly make it fast enough to the toilet because it comes like an active volcano, the next several days I feel the sensations of wanting to have a bowel movement and nothing comes out so I get bloated and sick.  Doctors don't tell you this pretty side - they want to yank your gallbladder after one attack.  There are natural ways to remove gallstones, I did it and it worked but I had too many large ones (size of my thumb) and caused more problems.  I'm here to let people know not to be quick about removing their gallbladder - it doesn't remove the problem!

My Frugal Diet
Friday, January 16, 2009 | By rawfoodlady

My aim was not only to be on a diet (to lose weight), but to be on a diet that will help me to save up some of my money. Usually when you're on a diet you are supposed to eat less than usual in order to get less calories. But these diets are difficult to maintain for a long time and they are not so favorable to your health.

Instead <a href="www.beautifulonraw.com" title="Raw Food Diet">raw food diet</a> is the right one to follow. 1. This food regimen provides you enough calories, vitamins, minerals etc. 2. Whereas it is considered that vegetables and fruits are more expensive that other food you can always find appropriate solution - such as buy seasonal fruits and vegetables or plant them yourself. It can be fun actually!!

Feelin' Fine
Tuesday, January 13, 2009 | By sandrine

Today I'm feeling better. My feet have been giving me grief lately so I'm pretty pleased at feelin' fine right now. My doctor tells me to walk each day which is hard when your joints hurt so much....but I'm just about to get some shoes on & do as the good doc says! Last visit he recommended these therapy socks which have improved the blood circulation in my legs & feet so I guess that's the reason for the improvement.

I got new boots...
Tuesday, December 16, 2008 | By DorrieBelle

...but Beloved Hubby thinks I'm more enamored of the box ! It's not true, but I went a bit out of our way to get a better lid for the box mine were in. I like shoeboxes. I can always find something to do with them. Especially if they have a good lid ! Last time I recycled the house cardboard, I found three great shoeboxes in the bins, within my reach ! They're stacked up in the doll/sewing Lab, awaiting further instructions.

Hubby insisted on getting them when my eyes lit on the beautiful emerald green color. They're from Mal-Wart, purchased during the weekly grocery run. Really, they're like knee-high slippers. Not a lot of inside support, but they're comfy as anything. And soooo warm ! Normally, I do groceries on my own, but roads were icy, and he was home and a bit bored. And just as normally, I would have put off any purchases for me. I mean, that Wii Pinball game was calling me, too - and I put that back on the shelves easily, maybe later.

But just as I have a food bugaboo - I can't stand the idea of anyone being hungry - Beloved has a cold bugaboo. He can't stand anyone being cold. And I'm sure to be nice and warm with these ! I know I should have gotten 'goes with everything' black... yet sometimes, it's just better to express your color than go with everything. I'm sure Dearest Son's busdriver will agree !

Egg salad sandwich for Beloved for lunch, angel hair pasta in beef broth for me. We'd just bought fresh bread and mayo, so why not ? And the hot broth always feels good to me.

Oh, and I discovered something useful today on weather.com. Underneath the high temp forecast, there's a 'Cold and Flu Forecast' window. In addition to sunrise/sunset times and weather watch (humidity, windspeed), there's a Respiratory Index. It's a quick sample of humidity, wind, temperature, and other factors that can influence how hard or easy it is to breathe. It then assigns a number between 1(hard) to 10(easy) for reference. Since I have asthma and heart disease, this is a great tool to have ! Today is '5', which is 'fair', pretty accurate.

I'm not sure how to find this - looking around I've only found a US-wide map of the same information. But it was there after I typed in our zip code, so I hope it comes up for you !

Well, it's bus-waiting time. Hope you have a sweet evening !
