what ever happened to "Midnight Madness" do you remember them ?!?

I was thinking about how silly my mom could be if she really wanted to & one of the silliest things she enjoyed doing for fun & to benifit us was to go to Midnight Madness !

Stores had them here occassionally & that's when the very best of bargains could be had !

She sometimes would meet her friend(s) there & they wore pajamas or at least wore them over other clothes! They were there before midnight waiting to get in there & get the best bargains !

There were drawings for prizes & samples of sodas & cookies & I don't KNOW what all !

I just remember a little about it & that the stores ran pretty big ads in the paper !

What are some of your best memories of "Midnight Madness" & what were some of the great things you got there ?! Did you wear PJ's & was there a PJ fashion show ? How long has it been since you attended one & would you attend one if there was one to go to now !?

I am wanting to buy a modular home on 1.5 or so acres & have just about gotten what I want!

It has become so loud in where i live even though several blocks from the hub of down town that I can't hardly wait to make this move a reality!

I have been giving items away that are unwanted & that I have too much of.People suggested having a rummage sale but it takes 2 or more people to do that here due to theft & people wanting to go into the house to try items on or use the bathroom or get a drink - so i decided that after paying for a classifieds ad + all the time it takes to set up & organize & price- I would be farther ahead to give it away to someone who can use it ! This paid off because the people I gave already 3 loads of it to are going to help me move for about 1/2 of what Union movers would get @ several men @ $20 an hr !

I have such vision for the house I want already having only seen it 2 times!

When they say "modular" you might get the impression it is a trailor.In essence it is but it is a HUD home built in 1990 & has the brass plate denoting it as such + it has a full basement whereas trailors do not.

It has 5 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms,a nice big deck on the front with built in bench,

HUGE basement windows,I will use propane & share a well with the seller who I will pay $25 a month for unlimited use & maintanance.I will have to contract a rural garbage pick-up which will cost a little extra because in town the water & sewage/garbage is all in one & the most recent bill I payed was just over $28.

I have been thinking of planting lavender,tomatoes,strawberries & herbs to begin the next season with & hope to have more than enough so I can sell some at the farmers market or put a sign about a 1/2 mile up my gravel road to attract passersbys on the nearest county hiway.

I have been a city dweller for most of my life but have a little experiance in the country when I was a child.

I would love to hear from anyone who has done the same,moved to the country to farm or try to live a nicer,more serene life out side of town!

There is a craft shop on the property which only needs a little fixing up such as paint next spring & swept & some wasp or other flying insect nests out that were allowed to be built while the place was unoccupied.

I am anxious to hear from you who love to live quietly & what you do with your life to make it more enjoyable &/or profitable in whatever way thrift wise or recycling ways or whatever!

This place is 12 miles from where I am & although not totally isolated - it is a far cry from so much hustle & bustle & the type of place where I might actually have deer in my front yard curious of their new tennent!

I forgot to mention 2 pecan trees & 2 walnut trees which the realtor didnt know of until after the seller brush hogged the other day & we went to inspect!

We didn't look for other nut trees in the back or anywhere else on the property - it would be really great if there were more but I feel the added bonus of just those 4 is excellent !

I might consider some other fruit trees or even a grapevine when I get situated & so on.

I also plan to do some vLogging when I get down to doing little projects for improving & have ordered some items from amazon to make it happen & several are already on their way !

I also am interested in having an outdoor wood furnace to utilize wood scrap I can pick up for free so any experiance with you would share will also be welcomed!

I really need to know about how you all handle shopping trips & what you buy when you go!

I realize I wont be hopping over to the dollar general every time i run out of 2 litres of pepsi & chips & dip ! Not as high as gas is & how far it is -- let me know your game plan in this reguard ! looking forward to your ideas !!
