Gleaning goodies

Hubby & I are getting the CHEAPEST tix to hear some classical art songs by a famous singer tonite at Disney Hall. They still cost us almost $50! I have 2 more years until I qualify for the senior discount....& pundits wonder why there isn't more audience - it's the $$$$ stupid!
Because live music is terrific & I crave it, I signed up for the concert calendars of the 2 local music schools (you might do the same with a college or university in your town). Some of the concerts are actually FREE - & I found a nice Fr. Noel concert on 12/3 GRATIS. We both <3 going to the Hollywood Bowl -- so I am going to make an effort to hear live music MORE.
I do like to dress up for outings like concerts - I have a dress I bought with a $10 coupon at Target which I don't think I have had on - & I am going to pair it with my $8 Ferragamo shoes & my @$10-15 Ferre purse, I bought in a funky antique store.
The shoes are worth a TON - & I looked up Ferre & discovered it's Italian & a similar new purse would be $300-400!!! Gee. I just appreciated the good leather & the classic style.
It made me realize all of a sudden how many very nice things I DO HAVE. All acquired at a very small percentage of what they would be retail! $7 designer shoes & the same for large silk scarves - & even my Michael Kors handbag! Also my $8 London Fog trench coat in iridescent midnight blue - which I am getting more wear out of that I thought I would...I love that coat!!!
It's all a collection that I have amassed over the years - & you know, it was FUN doing it, too. It seems we will have the rich folks around for the conceivable future - so we will all be able to GLEAN our goodies from their castoffs & donations! Isn't that comforting?
