I AM GOING HOME!!!!
Friday, June 15, 2007
July 1st I will be offically out of a job. I have worked outside of the home for 30 years and this will be a new experience for me. My husband is disabled and has become increasingly more dependent on outside care during the day. I have been paying a care giver big bucks to sit w/my husband so it is w/great thought and prayer I have decided I am needed more at home than I need to work outside the home. My question is, are there any members that are stay at home wives and care givers as well? We have no children at home so it wil only be myself and my husband who needs me. I know we can live on what he draws from SSI and his small pensions it will be tight but enough if I watch our pennies. I am frugal by nature and have learned so much from this board. I have a budget made up and will draw unemployment that I plan on saving. I hope to stay home w/my husband as long as possible so I need all the cheerleaders I can get! Any support would be greatly appreciated!!!! Any tips would be appreciated as well!

I receive SSI too. I only wish for a spouse as nice as you are to leave a job and spend time with me. I hope you are prepared for what lies ahead. You may want to get counseling for finance management. It will help your marriage emensely. Resentment is bound to arise if you don't get this counseling. Hope you have a happy retirement so to speak. Getting out helps too. Walks together or spending time together at the park or public beach is always good for the soul.

Good for you! My husband stays home with me. He gives me my I.V.'s and drives me wherever I need to go. He keeps house and often cooks and does the dishes. I try to do as much as I am able. That includes part-time work as a journalist. He works part-time at home raising baby calves and our beautiful garden. We are as tight as we can be with our money, and I find that we are as rich as I have ever been! Our friends love to eat at our home and last night a friend brought some store-bought fried chicken, macaroni salad and rolls. We filled our plates and went outside to watch the parakeets and visit. It was a perfect evening. Maybe the key is to relish what the Lord has given us. A sunny, windless day. Pretty little birds. Fresh cherries from a friend! (That was yesterday, too.) How good does life get? May the Lord bless you with the vision to see what He has given you both!
Best Wishes

I wish you the best. I'm sure you will enjoy no longer having to work to pay someone to care for your husband. There are many things you can do to bring in a few extra bucks and save those that you receive. Do make sure you take time out for yourself because it will be different being home all the time.
