An outing

My buddy Eldon finally got to take me out to dinner for my birthday - we went to the Acupolco restaurant which has the advantages of nice margaritas, a pretty decor, access to coupons & lots of free parking! I was very good & avoided the fresh taco chips!
As the weather is so peculiar, I got to wear my "new" vintage dress I got last week from Salvation Army in Pasadena for $5. It's a shift made out of rather sturdy 50's/60's cotton & is in a hot pink/black batik pattern. I love batik! The interesting thing is that it had been altered at one point to make the shift less billowy. I had to adjust the armholes so they wouldn't be too tight. No big deal.
Actually what whoever altered it did made me think of doing something similar with the sleeves of another batik dress (this one dark green/brown/purple) I got ALSO for $5 last week. I think I will alter the sleeves from their present boxy shape - & make them more flattering. Easy enough to do.
It's hard to figure out what to WEAR in S. Cal. when it's November & in the 80's!! I chose dark patterns in light fabrics - so the cotton batik is perfect. I also got a chance to use my "new" thriftshop Michael Kors purse (also $5!!!) & had to boast to my frugal friends what a bargain it had been.
After dinner we went off to an All Saints Day mass where they sang a Saint-Saens mass - & the air was filled with frankcense. I had had a trying day, which I don't want to bore you with - so the service was just what the doctor ordered!
Don't forget your local place of worship for some nice live music! Churches are a major support for musicians in the U.S. -
