A Burning Issue....

Lights on... Lights off...
I've recently noticed my family members leaving lights on in rooms that are not in use.
It is so simple to just flick the switch on the way out of the room. So why can't they remember? I think of the money savings and that is all I need to do to flick the switch on the way out of a room.
Are you and/or your family members in the same situation. Let me know how you combat this "burning issue".
Thanks

Close the fridge door!
Monday, March 12, 2007 | By Persnickety Paula
I remember growing up and having my mom tell me (repeatedly) "turn off the light", or "close the refrigerator". But, I never was told why and just thought it was her nagging. Of course, now that I am an adult and paying the bills, I know why!! I think that it is important to teach children of all ages about what bills are, that they come every month, about setting the money aside to pay them, and even about writing checks out (and that someone has to work to earn that money!) My mother was the "accountant" of the family and she never sat us down to explain any of the household finances, and how we could help with the bills simply by turning off the light. My brother and I were never even given allowance, which I now think would have been helpful in teaching us how to budget our own money to buy the things we wanted. I never realized as a child how hard my dad had to work to earn the money to pay the bills; I think children need to be told that, and reminded of it.
