Blog: simplify.

back to it!

Tuesday, May 01, 2007

this past weekend i started something that terrifies me. perhaps it was a bit too drastic, i bagged the girls' entire room of stuff. everything is in the basement now. (excluding school clothing and bare necessities)  there must be 15-20 large garbage bags full. yikes!
next step is the purge. it isn't going to be fun, especially with my four year old supervising.  she thinks she still needs it all.
i'm thinking while the room is bare bones, maybe there's something fresh we could do to make the upheaval more pleasant for them.  maybe paint? ...probably better wait until summer vacation for that project.
i'd like to rearrange the furniture- but given the room dimensions and layout & the style of their beds...it's simply not feasible.
hmmm...any ideas?

I know sometimes we all feel the need to simplify our lives by clearing out what we feel to be unnecessary junk, but dont forget a lot of this junk are your little girls memories and once they're gone they're gone forever. Lucky you to have a basement. In Australia we very rarely have such a thing. Good luck
