Cleaning colanders

One dish i really dislike cleaning is my colander.
No matter how much scrubbing i do, it seems like the food just finds all sorts of nooks and crannies to hide in.
I discovered if i spray the inside and outside of it with non-stick cooking spray before putting food into it, that it rinses clean as a whistle.
this may not sound much like a frugal idea but it saves on dish liquid, hot water and most important ... my time!
