Spring Springing!

The frugal lifestyle goes on - I read that unemployment is supposed to be 8.5% (not counting all those who have fallen off the charts) - we artistes are so used to being unemployed/semi-employed that we hardly notice!
Downloaded more great clipart from www.doverpublishing.com! And there are movie star pics gratis at www.tcm.com - even video clips! Also downloaded free Threatfire - as a supplementary anti-virus program. It runs in the background. Seems that McAfee is finally straightened out...
Check out www.consumermom.com for a blog directed to pennypinching moms....
Oh, did I say I found FREE Irish lessons at www.bbc.com (look for learning - languages) They have 36 languages there!
Allergies have abated, so no expensive Zyrtec today! (I use inexpensive generic loratadine & OpconA eyedrops when I can, instead of Zyrtec (pricey) or Alaway eyedrops (very SMALL bottle). By the way, you can get free Zyrtec samples at www.walmart.com (samples). It does WORK.
Off for Spring Break - to the boat & beyond, altho we have also talked about going to "Club Mud" out by Temecula & maybe the casino? (Food is cheap at a casino!)
Sent a FREE real paper greeting card at www.hallmark.com by registering - and choosing papercard - personalizing - and then giving the code TRIAL at the checkout. They even pay for postage! (ecards there, too)
Do you know I am at www.twitter.com using pamphyila - and at www.zannel.com (also pamphyila)?? I report quick mental flashes there!
Have a great Spring Break/Easter everyone!

Coloring shampoo
Sunday, April 12, 2009 | By Pugo
Hi, I remember that you mentioned a couple of times that you use coloring shampoo (temporary dye, right?). I used to be a strawberry blonde, not as redhaired as you, I think, but it has all faded to a dull dishwater brown (except for the grey). I've looked around for coloring shampoo and have somehow missed it. Can you please recommend a brand and where you get it? I'm looking to regain the red highlights. Thanks! Please know that you are read even if we are lazy about commenting.
Coloring Shampoo

There are several brands: Redken/John Frieda/Pantene & the healthfood store brand Shikai. I have used many brands, including a stash of Marc Anthony I got a few years ago at a dollar store!
And, hey, thanks for reminding me that you are all out there! It's much appreciated.
The trick for me is to MIX the red + blonde shampoos - wash once & rinse - then SIT for 15-20 mins. with the mixture under a shower cap. When I was first introduced to it, I was put under a dryer by a stylist. But I prefer sitting in a hot bath. Then you use a combination of blonde + red conditioner.
I find that it generally covers the grey - but I can touch up my temples with hot coffee if necessary! (browns down the grey) I have also tried rinses, colored mousses - but they generally RUN if I sweat, as I do a lot around my face!
I also am in the habit of streaking my hair with regular hydrogen peroxide before I shampoo/color my hair. I only apply to new growth at crown/part, etc. That also masks any greying, esp. after the color shampoo treatment. And peroxide also gives a reddish tint to the highlights.
I am glad I have hit upon this & will use it until there is too much grey. But so far, so good. I tried just an OTC touch up & found it MUCH too irritating - so I don't think I could use hair color per se. If I had to go that route, I would try henna. I have some blonde henna- but have never used it!
The best hint I ever read was that you should do a MESSY job of your hair color - as natural hair color is never uniform! There is generally lighter color on the top with what they call "low lights" underneath. Keep that in mind and use more blonde in the shampoo mix you use on your streaks!
