Washer drains in kitchen sink

My washing machine drains into the kitchen sink on both rinse cycles. It use to make a gurgling noise in the drain but no water came up....now water sometimes gets 4 inches deep in the sink! What could possibly be the problem? I've tried drain cleaners in the washer and kitchen drains but don't know what else to do,
